The arts at Greenacres often use a creative lens to understand science, nature, and its processes. In this program, we will explore the Maple Syrup process through the perspective of art making and storytelling. Expect music, acting, and creativity! This program is best suited for students ages 5-9. This program is an ideal companion to our Maple Syrup Program. All multigrade program offerings will be supported by grade-level appropriate standards, available to share upon request.

We use paper in countless ways each day – from writing a note to drying our hands. The amount of paper we use leads to large quantities of paper waste sent to landfill or recycled and never seen again. In nature, materials are recycled through a variety of processes with the help of fungus, bacteria, and invertebrates. In this program, we explore sustainability by repurposing scraps into new paper that can be used in artistic practice and uncover the similarities and differences between natural and human recycling. This hands-on experience encourages students to learn new skills and make sustainable choices. This program is best suited for students ages 9 and up. Nature provides endless inspiration for expression. Be prepared to get your hands dirty as we experiment with natural materials and our creativity! Programs in the Arts in the Natural World series seek to demonstrate intersections between the arts and the world around us. This program only operates in warmer months (August-October 31; March 15-June).
