Travel back in time with the Greenacres Education team during this hands-on fossil-hunting adventure! We’ll begin with a brief overview of Ohio’s unique geology, then hike to the creek to explore exposed rock beds in search of 450-million-year-old Ordovician fossils—like bryozoans, brachiopods, and other ancient marine life. Along the way, participants will also discover how the creek’s modern ecosystem continues to be shaped by its oceanic past.
This program is designed for adults and school-aged children ages 5 and up. Younger siblings are welcome but may need extra support from an adult. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet and muddy, and close-toed shoes are required.
