Spring Garden Picnic

Join us for a magical evening in the heart of Greenacres’ Ley Field, our production garden. Guests bring their own picnic dinner to enjoy on the grounds before participating in hands-on activities, blooming gardens, and sweeping views with family and friends.

As the sun sets over the pasture and spring florals, guests are invited to explore guided educational stations, create a custom bouquet from seasonal blooms, engage with our research team in pollinator discovery activities, and take home fresh produce along with your handcrafted floral arrangement. This is a unique opportunity to connect with nature, learn about sustainable agriculture, and celebrate the beauty of the season together.

What to Expect

As evening light fills the garden, our knowledgeable staff will introduce the centuries-old method of pre-industrial ley farming. This system combines diverse vegetable and cut flower crops with rotational grazing to build healthy soil and support biodiversity.

Learn how integrating animals and plants strengthens local food systems, and discover how Greenacres is using these principles to create a vibrant, sustainable future. The research team will also be on-site offering interactive pollinator learning experiences, including bug net sweeping demonstrations.

Additional activities include:

    • A bag of fresh produce to take home (one per household)

Know Before You Go

The Ley Field is a short walk from the parking area and includes uneven, natural terrain. Guests should be prepared for a moderate uphill walk and wear appropriate footwear.

Please bring:

• • • Each guest or group must bring their own picnic meal. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
    • Picnic blankets or lawn chairs
    • Sunscreen and reusable water bottles

    • Children (17 & under): Free

Weather Policy

In the case of rain or extreme weather, the event will be rescheduled. Guests who opt in at checkout will receive SMS updates with any weather-related changes.
