Greenacres Environment Education

INTERNSHIP

Interning with the Environment Education Team

Greenacres offers a one-year, paid internship with our Environment Education Team, where you will gain hands-on experience delivering outdoor educational programming for school field trips and summer camps. Interns are immersed in dynamic, nature-based teaching, working with small groups of children in forests, streams, ponds, and fields. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental education, outdoor learning, and nature interpretation to build practical skills in a non-traditional, experiential setting.

Each year, we welcome three new interns to join our team. Applications open in April.

Who can apply?

This internship is ideal for individuals interested in beginning or enriching their careers in environmental education. Whether your background includes environmental studies, biology, education, outdoor leadership, or related fields, we encourage you to apply if you are enthusiastic about sharing the natural world with others. We are looking for passionate, inquisitive, and self-motivated individuals who are eager to grow as educators and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Our team is committed to delivering inspiring and engaging educational experiences that foster curiosity, connection, and stewardship in students. If you enjoy collaborating with others, spending time outdoors, and helping young learners explore and understand nature, we invite you to apply.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. While Greenacres does not provide housing, this is a paid internship and includes medical and dental benefits, along with paid holidays.

What to Expect

As an Environment Education Intern, you will become part of a dedicated team of educators who care deeply about the natural world, collaborative teaching, and the mission of Greenacres. You will receive mentorship and training in environmental interpretation, natural history, experiential teaching strategies, and professional development within a nonprofit context.

Interns are based at one of our education sites in Indian Hill or Miami Township Clermont County (OH), with occasional travel to other Greenacres locations including Lewis Township (OH), and Oldenburg (IN). This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to engage in diverse teaching environments across seasons and weather conditions.

Teaching at Greenacres

Interns play an active role in planning and leading all aspects of Greenacres’ school field trips, after-school programs, and summer camps. You will help deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences in natural settings, sparking curiosity and fostering a sense of wonder in our students.

At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the opportunity to present their developed teaching philosophy and reflect on their experience with the full Greenacres staff, celebrating their growth as educators and their contributions to our community.
