Interning with the Environment Education Team
Greenacres offers a one-year paid internship with our Environment Education Team where you can immerse yourself in field trip programming and summer camp activities. Interns will have the opportunity to work with children, using hands-on activities in small groups outdoors. If you have a strong interest in gaining practical skills in non-traditional education and environment interpretation, we encourage you to apply!
Every year, we accept three new interns, and applications open in April.
Who can apply?
This internship is for individuals interested in beginning or further enriching their environmental education careers. Our Environment Education Team looks for passionate, curious, self-motivated individuals who want to advance their knowledge as educators. We strive to create and deliver educational programming that gives students an exciting and enriching experience while using the forest, streams, ponds, and fields as our classroom. You must be at least 18 years old.
Please note that while this is a paid internship, Greenacres does not provide housing. We also offer medical and dental benefits along with paid holidays.
What to Expect
You will join a passionate team of individuals who care deeply about the environment, teaching, learning, working together, and honoring the Greenacres mission. Interns will be mentored and trained on environment interpretation skills, as well as, natural history knowledge and career prep in a non-profit. The Environment Education Internship role will be based at one of our sites in Indian Hill or Milford. This position requires flexibility with schedules, programming, and occasional traveling between education sites in Milford, Indian Hill, Lewis Township, OH, and Oldenburg, IN.
Teaching at Greenacres
As a member of the Environment Education Team, you will assist in all aspects of school field trips, after-school programs, and summer camps including providing hands-on experiences in nature to local students and delivering high-quality programming. At the end of your internship, you will have the opportunity to present your newly developed teaching philosophy and experience as an intern at Greenacres to the staff.
