Greenacres Artist Weekend

An autumn weekend opportunity for artistic inspiration, network building, and retreat for Greater Cincinnati artists (Age 18+) to create, collaborate, and generate new ideas. The Arts at Greenacres Foundation include the visual and performing arts.

The Greenacres Foundation Artist Weekend is an annual three-day opportunity for members of Greater Cincinnati’s visual and performing arts communities (Age 18+). This weekend pulls inspiration from Greenacres’s historic architecture, nearby forests, and farmland for artists to develop their skills.

Greenacres is excited to open the Arts Center to 25 artists (Ages 18+) who reside in the greater Cincinnati area for an exciting and innovative weekend of arts engagement. This three-day event is ideal for students and local artists looking to nurture connections and develop skills. The weekend consists of idea-sharing sessions, roundtable discussions, retreat and relaxation sessions, and access to both indoor and outdoor spaces to create at your own speed. Participants will be able to spend time in and around the fairytale-like setting of the Arts Center. Greenacres is an idyllic sanctuary, guaranteed to get any artist’s creative juices flowing. 

We encourage you to submit an application and a selection of works (e.g. images, videos, audio clips, documents, etc.) that reflect your personality as an artist and how a weekend at Greenacres Arts Center will help you develop your skills. We, likewise, endeavor to provide you with an opportunity to step outside of your day-to-day routine and (re)connect with your creative self, with others, and with the environment. 

Applications are required for this event and are due by September 15th. Applicants will be notified by a Greenacres representative. Cost of attendance: $125, Cost for students: $75

Please note that this event will occur over three days. You are responsible for your own evening accommodations and transportation. All applications will be reviewed by the Greenacres Team. Previous attendees may apply to any Greenacres Artist Weekend, but applications from first-time attendees will be prioritized.

All participants will be provided:

• A welcome dinner on Friday, November 1st, at the Arts Center
• Breakfast, coffee/tea, and lunch on Saturday, November 2nd-Sunday, November 3rd
• Access to the Arts Center grounds on November 2nd and November 3rd
• Opportunities to network with other artists
• Opportunities to lead sessions on topics such as artistic techniques, approaches, or your creative process with other participants (supplies for sessions provided by Greenacres)
• Relaxation and retreat opportunities, such as in-person guided yoga sessions and hikes through the Greenacres preserved woodland
• An opportunity to exhibit your work in an art gallery that welcomes thousands of visitors per year, opening January 18th, 2025.
• An excellent resume builder!

Application

Due Date: Applications are due September 15, 2024

Decision Notification Date: September 30, 2024 

Time commitments: Participants must be available for all sessions for the Greenacres Artist Weekend. The sessions are as follows:

• Friday, November 1st, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm: Welcome dinner and tour at Greenacres Arts Center
• Saturday, November 2nd, 2023 from 8 am until 5 pm: Day 1 (breakfast, lunch, coffee/tea provided)
• Sunday, November 3rd, 2023 from 8 am until 4 pm: Day 2 (breakfast, lunch, coffee/tea provided)
• Saturday, January 18th, 2025 time TBD: Exhibition Opening Reception

Eligibility: Eligible participants are those who reside in the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Area, which includes the following counties: Brown, Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties in Ohio; Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, and Pendleton Counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley, Decatur, and Union Counties in Indiana.

How to Apply

There are two required elements of the application for the Fall 2024 Greenacres Artist Weekend:

• The digital application form (required)
• A portfolio containing examples of your work (required)
  • Please submit  2-5 examples of artworks, recordings, or written works to serve as your portfolio. A link to an online portfolio or website is also acceptable. All images must be clear to see on a full size computer screen.
  • Please name your files as follows:  Artist’s last name, first initial, and title of the work i.e.: DoeJ-Title.jpeg ; For detail images, please put “detail” after the file name i.e.: DoeJ-Title-detail.jpeg
