Turkeys are now available for Thanksgiving 2025!

We’re excited to welcome you back for another season of Greenacres Thanksgiving turkeys. Our birds are humanely raised on the pastures of Cincinnati, where they enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and plenty of space to roam. This results in a healthier, more flavorful, and nutritious turkey for your holiday table.

Reserving your turkey is simple. First, select the size you’d like and place your $20 deposit online to confirm your order. After choosing your size, you’ll be directed to the next page where you can select your pickup time. When it’s time to collect your turkey at the Farm Market, you’ll also find a variety of seasonal items available for purchase to round out your holiday meal.

You may notice up to 3 emailed receipts for your order. This is due to circumstances beyond our control, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Rest assured, your order was not processed multiple times.

A note about feathers

The turkey you typically buy at the grocery store has been bred to have white feathers, a genetic trait selected so feathers aren’t as visible after butchering. These type of selective breeding practices can come at the expense of overall turkey health and flavor. Choosing turkeys with genetic traits closer to their wild ancestors means that our turkeys have bronze feathers, but are better suited to thrive outdoors and have great flavor. These bronze feathers may occasionally be visible on the turkey you bring home – simply remove before cooking.

FAQ

When can I pick up my turkey?

Turkeys will be available during your selected pickup time on Friday, November 21 (10am–5pm), Saturday, November 22 (9am–2pm), Monday, November 24 (10am–5pm), and Tuesday, November 25 (10am–5pm).

What if those times don’t work for me?

We’re happy to help—please call the Farm Market at 513-891-4227 ext. 1 or email farm@green-acres.org to discuss other options.

Will the Farm Market be open while I’m picking up my turkey?

Yes! The Market will be open during all pickup timeslots, including Monday.

What are the Market hours during Thanksgiving week?

The Market will be open Wednesday, November 26 from 10am–2pm. We will be closed November 27–28 for Thanksgiving, then reopen with normal hours on Saturday, November 29.

What can I expect at pickup?

When you arrive at 8300 Spooky Hollow Road, follow the drive to the right at the fork and park in front of the Market or along the gravel drive. Enter through the Market entrance to check in, and we’ll bring your turkey from the back. While you wait, you can shop for produce, meat, eggs, dried flowers, and more, or enjoy warm cider in Carter’s Classroom. Our staff will gladly help carry your order to your car.

Will I need to wait?

You may need to wait just a few minutes while we locate your order.

How are the turkeys raised?

All of our turkeys are pasture-raised here at Greenacres, cared for with respect and in harmony with the land.

Why can’t I choose a specific weight for my turkey?

Because our turkeys are raised outdoors on pasture, their sizes vary from year to year. Once they return from the butcher, we sort them by size into weight brackets (small, medium, large, and extra-large). We’ll do our very best to provide you with a bird close to your request, but we cannot guarantee exact weights.

What size turkey do I need?

As a general guide: a small feeds 4–6 people, a medium 7–10, a large 11–14, and an extra-large 15 or more. We’re big fans of leftovers, so we recommend choosing a size that leaves you with plenty to share.

How do I pay my $20 deposit?

The easiest way is online when you make your reservation with a credit card. You can also stop by the Farm Market and pay in person with cash, credit, or your CSA card.

What is your process for filling turkey orders?

Turkeys are reserved in the order we receive deposits. Customers who complete their reservation early will have the best chance at their preferred size.

Can I make changes or cancel my order?

We’ll do our best to accommodate changes, though it may not always be possible. Please contact us as soon as possible. If you need to cancel, we’ll refund your deposit and offer your turkey to the next person on the waitlist.

What if turkeys sell out?

You can add your name to our waitlist. If any birds become available, we’ll begin calling customers on Friday, November 21.

How should I store my turkey?

We recommend storing your turkey on the bottom shelf of your refrigerator, where it’s coldest—ideally around 32°F. At this temperature, your turkey should be cooked or frozen by November 30.

If you’d prefer your bird frozen until then, please select “After Thanksgiving – freeze my turkey” when choosing your pickup time slot, and we will freeze it for you.

Do I need to prepare this turkey differently because it’s fresh and pasture-raised?

No special steps are needed. Your turkey will be fresh, so no thawing is required. Cook as you would any other turkey—only this one will taste even better! For a basic oven roast, plan on about 13 minutes per pound at 350ºF, until the thickest portion reaches 165ºF.

Can I pre-order produce or meat for Thanksgiving?

We won’t be taking produce pre-orders during turkey pickup days, but the Market will be fully stocked. Hams will not be available for pre-order, though they will be for sale in the Market. Other meats—including pork, beef, lamb, and chicken—will be listed on our Market Availability page.

What about vegetables, flowers, and eggs?

A wide variety of produce will be available for your holiday meal, such as sweet potatoes, carrots, greens, and fresh herbs, along with eggs and dried flower wreaths. We’ll share a full availability list two weeks before the first pickup so you can plan your shopping.
