Invasive plants can threaten biodiversity\, disrupt ecosystems\, and diminish the beauty of natural landscapes. Understanding how to properly manage these plants is a critical step in protecting the health of our local environment. This series will provide participants with knowledge and hands-on experience to identify\, control\, and restore areas affected by invasive species. Participants will gain valuable insights into the ecological impact of invasive species and learn how small\, consistent efforts can make a big difference in restoring native habitats. \nEach session will combine classroom learning with guided field hikes\, offering participants hands-on experience identifying\, controlling\, and restoring areas impacted by invasive species. Greenacres Land Management and Research staff\, along with the Trees & Trails Foundation\, will guide attendees through the process of invasive plant management\, providing practical tools and strategies to apply on their own properties. \nThis series is for adults aged 18 and older and will take place rain or shine. \nTime: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM \nLocation: Spooky Hollow Farm – 8500 Spooky Hollow Rd\, Cincinnati\, OH 45242 \nCost: Tickets are $5 per session and include light snacks and refreshments. \nWhen purchasing tickets\, select a ticket for every session you would like to attend and then proceed to checkout. You must purchase a ticket for each session individually—buying a ticket for one session does not grant access to another session. \n\n\nWorkshop Sessions\nSession 1 – Invasive Plant Identification\nWednesday\, April 23\nLearn to identify common invasive plants found throughout Indian Hill and southwestern Ohio. This session will provide an overview of how Greenacres manages natural areas to promote plant and wildlife diversity\, with insights into the efforts of Trees & Trails within the community. A guided hike will give participants the chance to practice identification in the field. \nSession 2 – Invasive Plant Control\nWednesday\, July 30\nDiscover integrated pest management strategies and the tools available for controlling invasive plants.
