Many of these woodland plants bloom for only a short time each year\, making them easy to miss if you do not know where or when to look. \nAlong the way\, participants will learn how these early spring flowers thrive in the forest ecosystem and why their brief blooms play an important role in the landscape. While we cannot predict exactly which species will be in bloom\, a peaceful walk through the woods and the chance to discover seasonal wildflowers make for a rewarding morning outdoors. \nGeneral Information\n\n\n\n\n\nAdvance registration is required; space is limited\nAdult tickets are available\nChild tickets (ages 5–17) must be purchased with a participating adult\nCost: $1 per person\nClosed-toed shoes are required\nShoes and clothing may get wet and dirty\nBring a filled water bottle if desired\nNo strollers permitted\nNo pets allowed (ADA Certified Service Animals only)\nGreenacres Foundation is privately operated; all guests must be accompanied by a Greenacres representative at all times.\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather and prepare for potentially muddy conditions. During this special gathering\, you will meet our garden team\, connect with both returning and new Cultivation Club members\, and learn about the generative agriculture practices that help us grow flowers and vegetables while improving soil health. \nThis event is also an opportunity to learn about our Community Science project focused on pollinators in the garden. Cultivation Club members play an important role in collecting pollinator data throughout the growing season. During the kickoff\, we will review findings from the 2025 season and explore how these efforts are helping us better understand and support pollinator populations at Greenacres. \nThe Greenacres Cultivation Club meets once a month throughout the growing season. Volunteers assist in the gardens\, learn from our horticulture team\, and help care for this thriving educational space that serves more than 30\,000 students each year. \nRegistration for the kickoff closes: Thursday\, April 23 at 10:00 am \n2026 Cultivation Club Workdays\nWorkdays for the 2026 season take place from 8:00–10:00 am on the following dates: \n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 16\nSaturday\, June 13\nSaturday\, July 18\nSaturday\, August 15\nSaturday\, September 19\nSaturday\, October 24\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants are asked to attend at least two workdays during the season. We recommend reviewing your calendar ahead of the kickoff event so you can plan which dates work best for you. \nInterested in Volunteering with the Greenacres Cultivation Club?\nThis program is open to participants ages 16 and older. \nClick the registration button to sign up for the kickoff breakfast on Saturday\, April 25 from 8:00–10:00 am. During the event\, we will share more about the program\, answer questions\, and provide details about the upcoming season. Breakfast will be provided\, and you will have the opportunity to complete your required background check during the kickoff event. \nReturning Cultivation Club Members\nWe are excited to welcome you back for another season! Please register for the kickoff breakfast so we know you will be joining us.\n \nQuestions?\nContact Olivia Minella\, Field and Community Coordinator\, at ominella@green-acres.org. \nPlease note: No volunteer work will occur during the kickoff event. Did you know you can contribute to real atmospheric science while doing it? \nJoin us to learn about community science and how everyday observations can support real research. During this program\, we will explore the GLOBE Observer: Clouds project\, practice observing and identifying clouds outdoors\, and learn how to record observations using a NASA-supported app. Participants will also create a simple cloud-viewing window craft to take home and continue their observations. \nThis event is best suited for adult community members and families with children in 3rd grade and above (ages 8+). \nWhat is GLOBE Observer?\nGLOBE Observer: Clouds is a mobile app sponsored by NASA that allows participants to document the clouds they see in the sky. \nSatellites orbiting Earth collect cloud data from above. When scientists combine that information with ground observations submitted by community scientists\, they gain a more complete understanding of cloud patterns and atmospheric conditions around the world. \nYour observations help support real scientific research. \nGeneral Information\n\n\n\n\n\nCost: $1 per person\nAdvance registration is required.
